Rodrigo first came across Operation Wallacea when he joined an expedition into the Mayan jungles of Mexico in 2019. Here, Rodrigo unlocked his passion for hands-on fieldwork in conservation, which set him on a path for a career in science. After four years at Edinburgh University, Rodrigo graduated with a BSc in Biological Sciences (Zoology) and proceeded to spend his summer volunteering with Wild Scandinavia, a Swedish conservation company, restoring environments severely damaged by the logging industry by aiding the growth and spread of local trees and mammals.
Rodrigo has now returned to Opwall where he has joined the sales team making contributions to conservation in a different way. He will, however, be returning to Mexico this summer to work under the same hot sun that first established his desire to make a difference through conservation.
